Liverpool have been linked with a £60m move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong. The Reds have been linked with a number of potential new midfielders. Those rumours have intensified as Liverpool's injury list has grown during the opening weeks of the season.

According to a report from El Nacional, Liverpool are reportedly ready to make a bid for De Jong before the transfer deadline. Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are not available to Jurgen Klopp at the moment, which looks like an injury crisis.

According to the report, De Jong's future is currently uncertain, despite Barca boss Xavi wanting to keep him at the club, but also that Liverpool are willing to make a bid to bring De Jong to Anfield. The Reds are willing to make a bid of just over £52m, plus an additional £7.5m in add-ons, for a total of around £60m.

The offer

De Jong has been a key name in the transfer rumour mill this summer, but not with Liverpool. It has been Manchester United and Chelsea who have frequently been interested in the Dutch international. Barcelona would be open to letting De Jong leave the club if a suitable offer is made. Given the club's financial situation, selling De Jong would allow the La Liga giants to have the funds to be able to sign their other summer signings, the report adds.
