Liverpool will begin their Carabao Cup defence with a meeting at Anfield against League One side Derby County following Wednesday night's draw. The third round matches will be played in the week commencing 7 November.
The draw for the next stage of the tournament will take place following the conclusion of Newcastle United's televised second round match at Tranmere Rovers. Jürgen Klopp's side, along with a number of Premier League teams, will be in the next round and will be looking to defend the title they won at Wembley in February.
Liverpool will face Ajax of the Netherlands, Rangers of Scotland and Napoli of Italy in Group A of the Champions League group stage following tonight's draw in Turkey. The Reds won't have it easy, but at least they won't be in a group considered to be a group of death.
The Atatürk Olympic Stadium will bring back good memories for Liverpool, who were crowned champions there in 2005. And less good for AC Milan, champions of Italy 2022, who led 3-0 to the Reds at half-time in that memorable final before being held to a 3-3 draw and losing on penalties.
