The signing of Youssoufa Moukoko looks set to be one of the hottest stories of the upcoming summer transfer window. Of course, there are plenty of reasons to consider it so, as to date the young striker has not renewed his contract with Borussia Dortmund (his contract expires in June 2023) and, although a few days ago we told you in Don Balón that the player's intention was to remain with the German side, now statements on Sky Sports by his agent, Patrick Williams, have hinted that the positions between the two parties are very far apart.

To such an extent that even from Germany several media outlets point to a broken relationship between Borussia Dortmund and the young striker who, in terms of goalscoring ability, many compare to Erling Haaland. As it is, one of the favourites to get the services of the German pearl, as it is the FC Barcelona of Joan Laporta, would see with very good eyes the distancing of the footballer with Borussia Dortmund.

Since it would clear the first condition sine qua non to close a possible incorporation by the culé set. Of course, as we said, the decision not to renew would be the first of the steps that would have to be taken for the signing of Moukoko by FC Barcelona to materialise, but not the only one. In this sense, no less difficult, the Culés - in the hypothetical case that the striker does not extend his contract - will have to compete with three Premier League giants.

Such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool (all of them, of course, with a much greater economic potential than the club presided over by Joan Laporta). Faced with such a scenario, it is practically inevitable to think that Barça will not be able to compete financially with the offers that English clubs can present, especially bearing in mind that since the arrival of Laporta, the Catalan club has adopted a policy of lowering wages in new signings.

Barcelona are excited about Moukoko

However, it is equally true that in their favour, the Culés will have the persuasiveness of a project that is clearly committed to young players, such as that of Xavi Hernández. In any case, if there is one thing that is certain in the Moukoko affair, it is that there are still many pages to be written and the outcome is likely to be a long one. Undoubtedly, his will be one of the soap operas of the upcoming summer transfer window.
