Liverpool midfielder James Milner told off fellow defender Virgil Van Djik after Jadon Sancho's goal for Manchester United's 1-0 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford. In the 16th minute, a Manchester United move down the left flank left Sancho almost alone in front of goal.

The British player took the opportunity left to him by his team-mates to make a couple of dribbles in the six-yard box, the last one to leave James Milner on the ground after Van Djik's carelessness in defence, for Sancho to slot the ball away from Alisson Becker into the bottom left-hand corner, setting up Manchester City's first goal.

After the play, the cameras caught Milner upset by the situation, with Virgil Van Djik complaining that he was not in position to mark Sancho, which could be interpreted as an oversight by the defender, which Milner realised and reprimanded his team-mate for the goal that until half-time kept the score at 1-0 at Old Trafford.

The centre-back replaced Nathaniel Phillips in the Old Trafford line-up, while Jordan Henderson comes into midfield in place of Fabinho.
