The last few days have certainly not been easy for our Liverpool fans, as not only are we still desperately looking for the third reinforcement of the summer, but also the team suffered a hard blow with the whole situation surrounding the failed signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who turned their backs on offers from England's biggest club to join Chelsea, a team that will not even play in European competitions this season.
The Caicedo-Lavia fiasco has put the board in a very complicated position, as not only has it been the rejection of two players who were considered prime targets, but also now every team knows that Liverpool has money and that could make the clubs that own the players that interest Jürgen Klopp ask for more money to let them leave as they know the need that exists at Anfield.
In that sense, it seems that Klopp already has his new favorite defensive midfielder to reinforce the team before the summer transfer window closes and it is Cheick Doucouré, from Crystal Palace, for whom the Reds could pay a little less than £60 million according to journalist Miguel Delaney, a price that the Liverpool board could pay without any problem. However, The Athletic claims that they not only have Doucouré in their sights, but also another player who would be even cheaper.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool do have a strong interest in signing Cheick Doucouré, however they add that there is also the possibility of making an offer for Aston Villa's Boubacar Kamara, who is valued at €30 million according to Transfermarkt. Even assuming they increase their price tag, with the Reds' budget, it sounds like both signings could be affordable.
