Mohamed Salah already knows what it is like to be the Premier League's top scorer. The Egyptian has won the golden boot three times, in the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2021-2022 seasons, where he shared the golden boot with Tottenham's Son Heung-min with 23 goals, while Luis Diaz had six goals and 13 assists in the Reds' runners-up finish last season.
Both Diaz and Salah are looking to be the focal points in attack for German coach Jurgen Klopp's side after being called up and starting in both the Community Shield win over Manchester City and the two draws in the opening two Premier League fixtures, where both have already bagged a goal.
Although Diaz has only been with Liverpool for eight months, the goal he scored against Crystal Palace for the draw on matchday 2 earned him several accolades, not only from his teammates, but from players, journalists and the football world, and although he is far from Salah's 158 goals for Liverpool, this season he would be a good internal competition to achieve the titles that the Reds are looking for.
Diaz scored his first goal of the 2022/2023 season on Monday after being questioned on his Premier League debut. His performance was not without praise and accolades from Europe's leading media and sporting figures, despite Liverpool's draw.
The Colombian winger, who had not had many chances in his club's match against Crystal Palace, pulled off an incredible 61st minute move in which he evaded several opponents and fired a powerful shot to level the match (1-1).
