The Telegraph reports that Mohamed Bin Salman's Newcastle, the nouveau riche of the Premier League and the Champions League, a competition they entered as one of the top four sides in England this season, are close to signing none other than Nicolo Barella, star of Italy's Nations League, Inter Milán and Champions League finalists, as well as a player who, among others, captivates Jürgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino.
The newspaper mentions a great personal offer for the player, who would be the leader of a Newcastle team that promises to do great things next season both in Europe and in England, but also cites the almost 59 million euros (58.4) that the Magpies would pay the Nerazzurri team to sign him for their midfield leader. Indeed, in Italy they are sceptical about this move because of the size of player Barella is for Inter.
Inter Milán, against all odds and even if it was on the good side of the table, reached the final of the Champions League, where they came within a whisker of knocking out the all-powerful Manchester City led by Pep Guardiola, and in that match, as in the whole season and as has happened in recent years, Barella was key. So losing one of their key players to a possible direct rival in Europe for 'only 59M' is something that makes them uncomfortable on transalpine soil.
Now, the salary, which has not transcended, would be key in this proposal that the Italian star would be thinking about, but also the Magpies happen to be a team of enormous economic power, which is projected as the next Chelsea or City of the years to come and, therefore, a growing giant that can bring the international with the Azzurri both money and success. The tug of war for a player who captivates, among others, Jürgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino has begun.
