Liverpool announced in a statement on Thursday the signing of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar 2022, from Brighton for an undisclosed fee, although according to the English press, the player has reportedly signed for five seasons with the 'Reds'. The transfer fee paid by the Anfield club would be around £55 million, about $69 million, various media reported.
For Mac Allister, 24, one of the architects of Brighton's good season (6th in the Premier League and qualified for the next Europa League), the move to the team coached by Jürgen Klopp is "a dream come true". Mac Allister's arrival will be of great help to Darwin Nunez, especially for the language situation, as the Argentinian is fluent in English and the Uruguayan is not.
"I'm very happy, a lot of things were raised and that makes me very happy, to be able to help the people who need it most and it's something I do from the heart, I don't do it for anything else," said the Artigas striker, who plays for Liverpool in England. He assured that he is leaving Artigas with "tremendous happiness and his batteries well recharged", but first he will enjoy the last two days off that he has left with his family.
Núñez acknowledged that at the time he wanted "to play in the first division of Peñarol, to go far and to be able to help the family and the people who need it most in Artigas, which is my homeland and where I came from. "Today I am a Liverpool player and I am very happy enjoying it with my family and with the people who also deserve it here in Artigas," he added. The 23-year-old striker recalled his first steps in football and how his first trips to Montevideo were. In the last few days he had a new team as he participated in a friendly game with his neighbourhood club.
