Darwin Nunez set off alarm bells by not being seen at the team's last training session

Four days before facing Chelsea in the first Premier League match, our Liverpool returned to the AXA Trainigng Center to continue their preparation for the 2023-2024 season opener. However, the absence of Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez from this training session worried fans, as there was immediate speculation about a possible injury.

In that sense it should be remembered that Nunez struggled with injuries at the end of last season and missed the last few games of the previous campaign, however during the pre-season Nunez was one of the best players in the team, showing that during the vacations he continued to work and is ready to have a redemption year after disappointing many in his debut season by scoring only 9 goals in the Premier League.

Although his preseason, individually, was very good as he scored four goals in five games, it seems that this has not been enough to convince Jürgen Klopp to give him a place in the starting lineup, as in the last preparation game against Darmstadt, the Uruguayan striker was the only one of the five strikers of the first team that did not start, which would be a sign that at least at the beginning of the season he will be a substitute and will have to earn his place coming from the bench.

Why wasn't Darwin Nunez in training?

According to the Liverpool Echo and its sources, it is unlikely that Darwin Nunez's absence at the team's last training session was due to injury, and they attribute the absence to the Uruguayan being on "media duties" at the Axa Training Center, so his presence in the squad for Sunday's game against Chelsea would be assured.
