Despite missing out on Matheus Nunes, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers this week, there could still be hope for Liverpool next summer. The Telegraph reported on Thursday that Wolves do not expect to keep him for more than a year, indicating that at Molineux they expect him to light up the Premier League this season.
Nunes made his Premier League debut in yesterday's 1-0 defeat to Spurs in north London. One of the Premier League figures to speak out was Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte, after admitting he was concerned to see him and Ruben Neves in the Wanderers' starting line-up.
"If you see their starting XI today you have to be a little bit scared because Wolves with Neves and Nunes have one of the best midfields in the Premier League," the Italian manager commented via Team Talk:
The Birmingham Mail gave him a 6.5 rating on his Tottenham debut, describing him as "confident and classy" in possession. Starting his English football career away from home against an Antonio Conte side isn't the easiest way to begin his time in the Premier League, but for them it was a very decent debut and it will be fascinating to see how he fares in the future.
