Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp will be keeping an eye on the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter in Istanbul as one of the Citizens' players could leave the club after the game to join the Reds as a surprise midfield reinforcement.

Squad building for next season has been gaining colour and heat as the days have gone by. With May approaching and the current tournament in its final stretch, many institutions have already started negotiations with various agents. The Reds, in the last few hours, have stepped up their pursuit of Kalvin Phillips.

The midfielder, who had shone at Leeds and for whom Manchester City paid a fortune in July last year, could move on. Although he has a contract until 2028 with the Celtic club, the midfielder has had little playing time and would also require a move away to regain a starting place in another team.

With only 102 minutes in the entire Premier League in a Citizens shirt, 27-year-old Kalvin Phillips' future lies elsewhere. Liverpool have already said they are willing to pay £35m to take him from July and give him more action under Jürgen Klopp.
