Player who disappointed Klopp in defeat to Lyon in Dubai, leaves Anfield

The Dubai Super Cup kicked off on Sunday with Liverpool and Lyon facing off in the first match of a four-team tournament, which includes Milan and Arsenal. It will run until 16 December to keep the teams in top form during the World Cup in Qatar. The matches will be useful for Jürgen Klopp to see how fit his players are. But also to get back into footballing shape after the month-long break.

The match ended 3-1 in favour of Lyon of France. Good news for the Reds was the return to action of Naby Keita and Chamberlain who had been absent for a long period due to major injuries. However, the result was not as expected as Jürgen Klopp had hoped for a win.

Luis Diaz to undergo tests

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz will undergo medical checks after suffering physical discomfort after leaving the Premier League club's pre-season training camp in Dubai, manager Jurgen Klopp said. Diaz, who earlier this week said he was "happy to be back", reportedly had a relapse from a knee injury suffered in October and was missing training sessions on Thursday and Friday ahead of Liverpool's friendlies against Lyon and Milan. The Colombian striker has made 12 appearances so far this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists, after joining Klopp's side in the summer from FC Porto.
