The Reds' season is not going in the best way, recently drawing for the second time in the Premier League, this time against a Brighton side who were brave at Anfield and got a great result to stay in the European places, contrary to the home side who are 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, who curiously will clash in the next round of the English League.

The situation prompted English football legend Alan Shearer to express his opinion about the Mereyside side, who, for both friends and strangers, are unnatural to see in this position in the table. "We've been so used over the years to looking at Liverpool and seeing the way they press with a lot of energy, there was none of that today," said the former Newcastle United player.

He also spoke about the harsh criticism that England full-back Alexander-Arnold has received from a section of the fans and some football pundits. "Trent Alexander-Arnold has received some criticism for his defending and rightly so, sometimes it hasn't been good enough, but others have to take responsibility like Van Dijk, Henderson, Matip, Thiago, Mo Salah."

For Shearer, the Red's superstars are not showing their full quality as a unit, leaving some of their team-mates exposed, for example Trent Alexander-Arnold, who trended on Twitter, for having low numbers against the Seagulls. A woeful score of 6.7 showed a poor game from the Englishman, "but it's a team sport and everyone has to take responsibility," said the now football analyst Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer strongly criticised Liverpool

The former England international delved into the draw between Liverpool and Brighton, where the visitors deserved more, finding in Belgian Leandro Trossard the key to ending the game. According to Shearer, luck was on the side of the Red's who were able to salvage the win, once they came from behind and again Trossard popped up at the end.  "Liverpool at times couldn't cope with them [Brighton]. They should have been 4-0 down after half an hour, but that's football," he said.
