Istanbul, Turkey witnessed Manchester City's first Champions League win, which also meant the cup returned to The Island, following Real VARdrid's conquest of Liverpool in 2022. Guardiola found in Rodri the key man to make history, while his millionaire signing Erling Haaland, once again disappeared.

In ESPN data, the likelihood that Haaland would score in Turkey was 70 per cent despite coming into the match with five games without a goal. The American media outlet thought that against Inter, the Norwegian could break that drought. Compared to Mohamed Salah, the Red's star closed the season scoring in two of the last five games - a better goalscoring average.

The last ten Premier League games, the Pharaoh was a better player than Erling Haaland, as in that span, he scored seven goals compared to the City striker, who had only six, one less than Salah. Haaland, who according to Salary Sports earns £340,000 per week, £17,680,000 per year, was a non-factor in this close season.

Haaland could not beat Salah in the close season.

For now Salah is enjoying his holidays with his wife and daughter as he continues his individual preparations ahead of the Red's pre-season training camp in Singapore. The 30-year-old Salah is at the peak of his professional career, having finished the Premiership with 19 goals.
