We all remember with great sadness that Champions League final in which our Liverpool faced Real Madrid to define the champion of the 2017-2018 edition. On that occasion, the Reds came to stand up to the Spanish giants, but a disloyal action by Sergio Ramos led to the injury of Mohamed Salah, who had to leave the game.
In big Champions League games, there are players who, for one reason or another, do not perform at their best and end up disappearing. Such is the case of 31-year-old Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who has established himself as one of the best players in the world in his position, but has not been able to perform at his best in the Champions League finals he has played.
In 2021, Manchester City faced Chelsea and, after a collision between De Bruyne and Antonio Rudiger, the Belgian midfielder had to leave the game with a fractured cheekbone and his departure marked the turning point from which the Blues took control of the match.
Now, once again, Kevin De Bruyne will be unable to complete the most important match in his club's history, as he suffered a muscle injury. It is not unusual to see top players crumble under the pressure of such an imposing stage and it seems that the Belgian midfielder is not cut out for this kind of game, unlike Mohamed Salah.
After suffering that painful shoulder injury in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, Mohamed Salah worked harder, recovered and took us to another final of Europe's most important club competition. In his second chance, the Pharaoh had a spectacular night and won the sixth Champions League title in the history of England's biggest club.
