Shameful, revealed what Guardiola did that provoked Darwin Nunez's fury

This time neither Pep Guardiola nor Jürgen Klopp. For the sixth time in their 29 meetings during their respective careers, the Manchester City and Liverpool managers were locked in a stalemate. First Erling Haaland scored (setting a new career record), then ten minutes from time Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised (1-1). After what is today's classic of English football classics, as exciting as ever, Manchester City remain top of the Premiership, with Liverpool just one point behind.

It was an evenly contested first half, although it ended with City ahead. It was in the 27th minute when Haaland scored with his left foot, after a great slalom by Nathan Aké (one of the most outstanding 'citizens'). It was the Norwegian star's first goal against Liverpool in the Premiership.  But not only that. A historic goal because Haaland became the player who reached 50 goals in the English championship in less games, 48. He beat another record in his career, the one held until now by Andy Cole, who had reached half a hundred goals in 65 games.

Alisson kept out Haaland's second. But a minute later, in the 80th minute, Alexander-Arnold became Liverpool's hero at the Etihad. He cut inside, Salah laid the ball off to him and the England international shot across goal beyond Ederson's reach. In an iconic image, Alexander-Arnold made the gesture of shushing the City fans. City pressed forward in search of a second goal. Matip saved it with an intervention. And on the final whistle Haaland missed by inches. With the 1-1 draw, Klopp still trails Guardiola by 12 wins to one in their careers.

The fight between Darwin and Guardiola

The most eye-catching part of the match came at the end when Guardiola had words with Darwin Núñez and tempers flared to such an extent that Jürgen Klopp had to come and separate them, although the shouting between the two was still going on in the distance. Although there is no clear shot to show what caused the fight, according to people in the stands it was a provocation on Guardiola's part that made the Uruguayan furious.
