Klopp confirms Liverpool won't sign Bellingham

"It's not about Jude Bellingham my answer now, but I've never understood why we constantly talk about things that theoretically we can't have. We can't sign six players in one summer, all for 113 million euros. Everyone would say that's clear," the German told a news conference, confirming that Liverpool are pulling out of the bidding for Bellingham, one of Europe's most coveted players.

Jurgen Klopp insisted he had "nothing to say about it", arguing that he does not talk "about the players we sign or don't sign", nor about "speculation". "You have to realise what you can do and then work with it. That's how I've always worked," he said, comparing the situation to the presents that children receive at Christmas time.

"We are not children. You wouldn't ask a five-year-old 'What do you want for Christmas?' And he says he wants a Ferrari. You wouldn't say it's a good idea, you'd say it's too expensive and he can't drive it. If this child is unhappy all his life because he can't get a Ferrari, it would be a sad life. There are times when you have to accept that it's not possible for us," Klopp said ahead of Saturday's clash with Leeds.

Had Bellingham's deal to Liverpool gone through, the player would have taken over the house previously rented by Roberto Firmino, who will leave the Reds at the end of the season. The next few weeks will be intense for the former Hoffenheim player, who will have to pack up and vacate his €70,000 luxury home, where he was baptised in 2020 as part of the evangelical church. Firmino and his wife Larissa have already given notice that they will leave the house in June, pending finding a destination.
