Liverpool matched their biggest ever Premier League thrashing at Anfield by nine goals to nil against AFC Bournemouth to claim the first three points in the competition in stunning fashion. Jurgen Klopp's side also handed another record to the German manager, who with these nine goals scored took his tally to 800 with the Reds.
Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliot opened the scoring after three and six minutes respectively, then Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the third just before the half-hour mark with a long-range effort into the top corner, before Firmino scored the fourth goal after a deflected cross.
Virgil van Dijk headed home from a corner before the break and Chris Mepham turned Alexander-Arnold's cross into his own net seconds after the restart. When Jürgen Klopp's side increased their lead. Firmino got his second goal, capitalising on Mark Travers' failure to stop Andy Robertson's shot.
Fabio Carvalho also scored his first goal for the club when he volleyed home Kostas Tsimikas' pass and Diaz headed Liverpool's ninth and final goal before the end to equal the division's all-time winning record.
Roberto Firmino reached 100 goals for Liverpool in all competitions in their 9-0 win over Bournemouth this afternoon. The English giants picked up their first Premier League win, played masterfully from the first minute and Firmino set a new record.
The No9's second goal at Anfield set the record since Firmino joined the club from German side Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015. The Brazilian became the 19th player to reach triple figures in Reds history when he did so with a brace in his 331st appearance.
