Liverpool are in search of their first Premier League win of the season when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next Monday. The Reds travel to the North West to face another derby amid protests from Manchester United fans who could boycott the game.

This Thursday afternoon, Jürgen Klopp put his players through their paces in further preparation for the trip. Social media can be an unreliable arena where unfounded rumours circulate and can become accepted fact, but it is where most of the harsh criticism from fans circulates. Or the case of Virgil van Dijk on Thursday morning, who had either suffered a knee injury or was already destined to be out for the season.

While one of those rumours is happening, there is said to be strong criticism of Roberto Firmino, who missed the game against Crystal Palace as a precaution, one of the most heartfelt absences for the way the game went. Now Firmino, who was sidelined with a muscle complaint, took full part in the latest training session under Klopp's watchful eye. Darwin Nunez was also included in the squad as he continues to settle in with his new team-mates, despite being suspended for the next three games following his red card against Palace.

Matip's surprise

Jugen Klopp confirmed on Monday that Joel Matip would be out for a fortnight after the defender suffered a groin strain, so it was a surprise to see the Cameroonian in training. Matip was not pictured in any ball work, though. And Nat Phillips, the player who replaced him against Palace, was also not involved, but was seen running around the perimeter of the pitch with assistant fitness coach Jordan Fairclough. Jordan Henderson was another player who attended the session, but was not seen taking part in the training games.
