Liverpool remain in talks with Borussia Dortmund over midfielder Jude Bellingham and could even reach an agreement over a transfer in the coming weeks. The Reds are confident of signing the teenager next summer but could convince him to make the move in January.
Jurgen Klopp wants to avoid any other major signings this season but would be prepared to sign a striker if Roberto Firmino leaves. Inter hitman Lautaro Martinez is his preferred target to take over from the Brazilian.
Borussia Dortmund are one of the biggest talent scouts in Europe, and while this model has complicated the German side's sporting aspirations, it has allowed them to remain financially sound thanks to the multi-million-pound sales they make on a market-by-market basis.
Last summer they made around 100 million with the simple transfer of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, this year they lined their pockets with the sale of Erling Haaland to Manchester City and the following summer their jewel in the crown will be Jude Bellingham, the target of several of the best teams in the world, including Liverpool, who have already made their first moves.
The Anfield side have already made initial contact with Dortmund to discuss the possible arrival of Jude, the English side understand that the player is not for sale this year, however, they want to make sure that the Bees consider Jürgen Bellingham's team as the best possible buyer. Liverpool would thus have overtaken the other contenders for Belligham's signature, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, who are currently one step behind the Reds in their bid to sign the English gem.
