Thomas Tuchel has taken over as Bayern Munich coach from Julian Nagelsmann. According to the German giants, the sacking of the 35-year-old was due to the team's sporting performances. However, as the days went by, the former RB Leipzig manager's sacking began to be blamed on dressing-room instability. In particular, an argument with Sadio Mané.

"After the World Cup, we played less and less successfully and less and less attractively, the strong fluctuations in performance have called into question our goals this season, but also beyond this season. That's why we have reacted now," explained Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn after the resignation was made official.

Bild, the same newspaper that announced Nagelsmann's departure, reported that at least six key members of the squad had turned their backs on Nagelsmann: Gnabry, Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala, Mané, Cancelo and Manuel Neuer. Other key players such as Müller, Kimmich and Goretzka do not appear on the list, fuelling speculation that all will not be peaceful inside a squad that is still alive and kicking this season's objectives: the final stretch of the Bundesliga is coming up (second place, one point behind Borussia Dortmund) and they are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (they will face Manchester City).

Mane is a possibility for Liverpool

Bayern's disappointment with Mane has led to speculation from local journalists about a possible return of Sadio Mane to Liverpool. However, there would be one player who would not be happy about the Senegalese's return, as Portugal's Diogo Jota could be the man Jurgen Klopp could do without, especially as it is a year to the day since his last Premier League goal for Liverpool.
