Thiago Alcantara is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool and Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Spanish midfielder turned down multiple offers from Saudi Arabian football to remain at Anfield this season, in which he has not yet been able to make his debut due to the fact that he is still recovering from the hip surgery he underwent at the end of last season.
With the departures of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, among others, Thiago Alcantara has remained as the longest-serving midfielder at the club and could have a very important role in the dressing room this season, but first he must leave behind the injury problems that have plagued him since he arrived at the club and that have not allowed him to have the regularity and continuity he expected.
With how much the Anfield board has struggled to get reinforcements this summer, we could see Thiago have many more minutes than last season, as our Liverpool has a long season ahead full of many games, and that is why the return of Thiago to the first team could be great news.
Jürgen Klopp had assured that Thiago would return to training with the rest of his teammates this week, however the Spaniard was not part of the players who trained yesterday and is not expected to be eligible for the match against Aston Villa. However, it seems that the reason why he was not in training is already known.
According to journalist Jack Lusby, Thiago "was at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday, but is likely to have followed an individual programme having not joined his team-mates". So it is likely that he will be able to return after the international break.
