One of the most important players who could change teams before the summer transfer window closes is FC Bayern right-back Benjamin Pavard, who is reportedly looking to leave the German club and is rumored to be heading to the Premier League as Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in him.

Pavard, 27, is reportedly looking to leave the German club and according to Sport Bild, Liverpool have been interested in signing him for several weeks, however there has also been talk that Manchester United are looking to sign him. In that sense, it was reported that both teams could enter a race to sign him, which was believed to be leading the Red Devils, as some comments on Instagram that Pavard made after United's victory in the Premier League went viral.

However, now it seems that the situation could take a turn in favor of our Liverpool because according to Sky Sports, much of Manchester United's hopes of signing Pavard rested on the departure of Harry Maguire from the team, but now it has been confirmed that Maguire will not leave Old Trafford which would make the signing of Pavard by the Red Devils virtually impossible, leaving our Liverpool as a more likely destination.

What role would Pavard have at Liverpool?

Benjamin Pavard, a World Cup winner with France at the 2018 World Cup, could be very useful for Jürgen Klopp's scheme as his presence could free up Trent Alexander-Arnold to play as a midfielder, where he has said he feels most comfortable. Pavard, in that sense, could arrive to be the Reds' new starting right-back.
