Liverpool's German manager Jurgen Klopp is preparing his starting 11 for the club's first championship of the season when they take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the FA Community Shield at the King Power Stadium.

So far, Klopp has made a number of changes and has accepted his mistakes in this situation, most notably in the latest defeat to RB Salzburg in Austria. But the manager is confident that this season's first cup will stay on Merseyside.

He said: "We played the game out of full training. We had to make a lot of changes - that's fine, I take that. But what I can say: it's really at least average to lose a game." But Klopp is quick to forget the past and for him, this pre-season game was behind him from the final whistle.

The starting 11

With Alisson Becker out, Adrian San Miguel should be in goal, while Andrew Robertson, Virgin van Djik, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold will play in defence. In midfield Fabinho Tavarez, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson, while up front there would be Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. On this occasion, it seems too early for Nunez to start the game and he would be a substitute to come on in the second half.

Substitutes

The bench would feature Harvey Davies, who is unlikely to see minutes, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita, Harvey Elliot, Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas.
