During the match between Liverpool and West Ham at Anfield, the Mexican midfielder stood up to the Reds' striker. After missing the first matchday of the Europa League due to an injury he suffered against Manchester City, Mexico's Edson Álvarez returned to the starting line-up for West Ham in the defeat against Liverpool, where he played a face-to-face duel with Mohamed Salah.

The Mexican midfielder has shown his bravery on more than one occasion on the pitch and against Liverpool was no exception, facing Mohamed Salah with whom he exchanged words. Edson came face to face with Salah at Anfield. Because Alvarez covered his mouth so his lips could not be read it was not possible to decipher what he said to the Egyptian, who made an annoyed gesture at his encounter with West Ham United's Mexican.

Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool beat Edson Alvarez's West Ham United 3-1 at Anfield Stadium to move the Hammers up to seventh in the Premier League on 10 points. Alexis Mac Allister, midfielder of the Argentina national team, was again key for Liverpool: he gave a great assist in the 3-1 home win over West Ham at Anfield in the sixth round of the Premier League. 15 minutes into the second half, with the match level at 1-1, the former Boca player gave a precise cross to the Uruguayan Darwin Núñez, who connected and scored the 2-1.

Two minutes from time and with the score 3-1 after Diogo Jota's goal, the former Argentinos Juniors player was once again given a standing ovation by the whole Anfield Road stadium when he was replaced. Earlier, the home side had taken the lead with a Mohamed Salah goal from the penalty spot after 16 minutes. Then, after 42 minutes, Jarrod Bowen equalised for West Ham. Diogo Jota, five minutes from time, made it 3-1 for Liverpool. With this result, Jürgen Klopp's team reached 16 points and is second to Manchester City in the Premier League. For their part, West Ham were seventh, with 10 points.
