England's win over Malta on Friday was a resounding victory in Group C action in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Undoubtedly the best player was Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold. The 4-0 scoreline shows the big difference between the two teams.

The Reds' player was involved in the first English goal, which was scored into his own net by a Maltese defender. Then, Trent scored a wonder goal from outside the box with a powerful shot with his right foot. This has become a habit due to his great technique in hitting the ball.

The surprise was that Trent wore the number 10 shirt and played away from right-back, a position that Jurgen Klopp invented for him at Liverpool in the close season where he shone brightly. Thanks to his rebound, Liverpool rebounded and managed to qualify for the Europa League.

Henderson´s level

In contrast, Jordan Henderson also started in midfield but his performance left a lot to be desired. While there was no resistance from Malta, Henderson looked sluggish and lacked the energy of years gone by and was substituted in the 60th minute.
