It's official, the Qatar World Cup has kicked off. The 32 qualified teams are looking to make their mark in the nearly month-long event. The Red's are bringing quality players to the tournament who, with their talent, will help their teams achieve their goals. One of those players is Trent Alexander-Arnold who has been called up by England for the 22nd edition.
The Pool defender made Gareth Southgate's final 23-man squad, and with that, he will share a dressing room with team-mate Jordan Henderson. Trent knows the pressure of bringing the cup home after a 56-year drought, not least because of the way they are playing, which many are finding unconvincing. "I would say there's been a lot of spotlight on it. I'd say there's been a massive magnifying glass on that aspect of my game," he said.

He humbly accepts that Southgate might not consider him for the World Cup, as the competition within the 'Three Lions' squad is brutal. "I would say, for me, like any part of my game, there's improvements to be made. There's decisions that I could have made better," he said in an interview on his arrival in Qatar, where his team is suffering from the high temperatures in Qatar.
For the Liverpool youth product, Qatar 2022 will be his second World Cup in his professional career, having played in last year's Russia 2018, where he reached the semi-finals and eventually lost to Croatia for third place. Alexander-Arnold played just one game four years ago (Belgium), and today, he is looking to convince Southgate, who appears to have already made a decision on the 24-year-old, in training.
Trent closed by valuing the season he has had so far at Anfield, where although the club is not fighting for the Premier League, it is not out of the running in the other tournaments, where it remains alive. "There's instances where I could have defended a lot better, but at the same time, there's been instances where I've defended really well," said the player who started professionally in 2016.
