The day the Red's fans have been waiting for has arrived, the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister is a reality. The Argentina World Cup winner posed for the Liverpool media team, where they surprised him on his arrival in the Anfield dressing room, giving Alexis his first Liverpool jersey, which bore his surname and number '10'.
For Alexis it is a pleasant surprise to have the Liverpool '10'. "It's fantastic, it's my favourite number. At Brighton and in the youth teams in Argentina I always wore this number. In the world of football the '10' is everything. I'm very happy to see my name accompanied by this number on the Liverpool shirt," said the now Red's midfielder.
As Alexis tours the club's facilities, Luis Diaz embraces his role in the team and is set to have one of the best seasons of his career. The Colombia national team star little celebrated Mac Allister's arrival at Anfield, as Sadio Mané's departure last season saw the number 10 shirt go to 18-year-old Englishman Bobby Clark.
As numbers can change at the start of each season, the Guajillo had already had his eye on the '10', but the arrival of Alexis put paid to his desire to be the club's new '10'. Luis Díaz had no choice but to congratulate his number one team-mate, focusing on this season 23/24 to get revenge for the first year at Anfield where he injured his knee and was out for several months.
