Liverpool made the most of their home advantage to beat inoffensive Aston Villa 3-0 in the fourth round of the 2023-2024 Premier League. The Reds reached 10 points and climbed to fourth place in the standings. The Villans were left with six points. Aston Villa paid for their European hangover with an emphatic 3-0 defeat against Liverpool, who, despite not playing their best football at the start of the season, are becoming the alternative to Manchester City in the fight for the top spot.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Matt Cash own goal and Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool to their third straight Premier League win and move up to third place behind Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
