Liverpool got the three points against West Ham thanks to a great connection between Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Núñez. Sunday 24 September saw the completion of the sixth round of Premier League fixtures and one of the games of the day was West Ham's visit to Liverpool at Anfield. It was a tight encounter until Alexis Mac Allister teamed up with Darwin Nunez for the Reds' second goal.
It was a match of great intensity at Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool took the lead on the quarter-hour mark from the penalty spot. Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the spot, but the equaliser came on 42 minutes when Jarrod Bowen scored after a great team move by the visitors. The game was deadlocked after the equaliser and it took until the 60th minute for the game-breaking goal. A stunning Latin American connection between new signing Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Núñez gave Liverpool the lead.
On the hour mark, Mac Allister picked up the ball unmarked in the attacking half and, in front of a West Ham defence that looked well marshalled, played the aerial pass into space for Darwin Nunez to beat his marker to the ball. The Uruguayan then finished masterfully with his first-time shot. Just when it looked like Liverpool had the points in the bag, Diogo Jota popped up to deny the visitors any chance of an equaliser. With only five minutes left to play, the Reds had a corner kick. Virgil Van Dijk brought the ball down from the cross and the Portuguese striker only had to push the ball home.
For the first time since the end of the match, German manager Jurgen Klopp's reaction to the great play between Alexis Mac Allister and Uruguayan Darwin Nunez during Liverpool's 2-1 goal against West Ham has been broadcast.
