While the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milán is in the spotlight this weekend, the likes of Liverpool are spending time planning their next move in the summer transfer window, with manager Jürgen Klopp's next move clear after the signing of Alexis MAC Allister.

The obvious lack of a solid midfield led the German coach not only to sign Brighton's Argentinian gem, but now one of his top priorities is to successfully sign a holding midfielder as a natural replacement for Fabinho, a player who has not been at his best during the recent campaign in England.

The Merseyside club even before the end of the season had already sounded out a myriad of available names, with rumours swirling around talented youngsters as well as veteran but experienced players, but it seems that the right man to fill the midfield role is 22-year-old Frenchman Khéphren Thuram, who has been one of the revelations of French football with O.G.C. Nice over the last few months.

Reds finally beat Madrid to a signing

The 22-year-old Frenchman is one of the biggest stars of the surprisingly talented Nice side, and is one of the main targets for big European clubs. However, Klopp's side have taken the first step by putting approximately 40 million euros on the table for the Ligue 1 club to sign him, and although there were doubts about the offer as it was said that both Real Madrid and PSG could offer a better amount, the midfielder has agreed to join the Merseyside outfit without any problem, with only days left to announce his arrival, just as happened with Mac Allister.
