Bukayo Saka was unstoppable as England crushed North Macedonia to take three points in the Euro 2024 qualifiers with an emphatic 7-0 win at Old Trafford. The Arsenal striker scored three goals, while Harry Kane added two - one from the penalty spot - and Marcus Rashford and Kalvin Phillips completed the rout.
While Gareth Southgate's side took a while to open the scoring, the goals came thick and fast. Harry Kane opened the scoring, 28 minutes into the first half, and from then on the goals rained down at Old Trafford. Eleven minutes after the opener, Bukayo Saka scored the first of his three goals to make him the star of the side. The other two? Two and six minutes into the second half.
Earlier, at the end of the first half, Marcus Rashford added to the tally with a minute to go before half-time, while Kalvin Phillips scored his side's sixth 20 minutes into the second half. Finally, Harry Kane sealed the win with a penalty and scored the seventh and final goal of the match. The win puts England top of Group C on 12 points on their way to Euro 2024. For North Macedonia, on the other hand, defeat means they remain in last place in the section with just three points.
After the match Bukayo Saka praised what he considers Liverpool's best player: "He's a top top player, everyone knows that. At half-time he told me he was going to play that pass [for the goal], and I didn't even need to break stride, so credit to him."
