Liverpool are in pole position to sign Brighton's Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, a player who has become a priority for the Reds ahead of next season. According to Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specialising in the transfer market, the club coached by Jürgen Klopp has already presented the Argentina World Cup winner with a plan for next season and a financial offer.

"Liverpool have presented their plan and financial offer to Alexis Mac Allister. The club will insist in the coming weeks; discussions are progressing, but the agreement has not yet been made. The feeling is that Alexis, 100%, will leave Brighton and it will be at the beginning of May or June," he added. The English side accelerated their intentions to sign the Albiceleste international after failing to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is reported to have agreed a deal with Real Madrid.

Mac Allister has a contract with Brighton until 2025 and is worth around 70 million euros, however, the Argentine has expressed his intentions to leave the club at the end of the season, attracting interest from big European clubs. Clubs such as Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Inter, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have all expressed interest in the former Boca Juniors player. Mac Allister played a key role in Argentina's third World Cup triumph at Qatar 2022, scoring a goal against Poland in the group stage. In the current season, the Argentine has nine goals and one assist for Brighton.

Mane's number

While the same journalist revealed that one of Mac Allister's requests to sign for Liverpool is to wear the number 10 shirt, the Germans continue to insist that Sadio Mane will leave Bayern Munich, with a return to the Premier League being one of his big options and Liverpool becoming the big choice. If Mane can no longer wear the 10, he will now go for the 7 that James Milner will vacate when he leaves at the end of the season.
