After missing out on a call-up to the Spain squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara decided to take a little break from his professional career by venturing with his wife on a trip to the United States, where they both enjoyed a luxurious stay consisting of a trip to the beach in Malibu and a night at the NBA where they both watched Lebron James' Lakers play.

While some first team players are away on international duty for the group stages of the World Cup, the rest of Liverpool's players are away from Anfield enjoying a break and then returning for a mini-tour of the Middle East to be ready for when the Premier League decides to resume at the end of December on the famous Boxing Day.

Perhaps the Liverpool players who did not go to the national team finals did need this short break to reorganise all their ideas and return at the end of the year with the mentality of getting the team into the top places in the local competition, with the Spaniard and his team-mates looking to be at their best so they can also face Real Madrid in the European Champions League to be held in February.

Thiago's disconnection with football is evident in his Instagram stories, as while Spain are concentrating on their debut against Costa Rica on Wednesday, the Reds midfielder is not interested in the World Cup, as he and his wife Julia, enjoyed the pleasures that Los Angeles has to offer, distracting themselves with basketball and what better way than being in the front row watching the Lakers crush the Spurs.

Perhaps and the game held at the Crypto.com Arena reminded Thiago of his team in England, as in both cases he was able to witness the Spurs being beaten, most probably feeling identified with Anthony Davis, a player who happens to be crucial in the scheme of the Angelinos, something similar to what happens with the Spaniard in the midfield. Although Alcantara unfortunately did not get to see King James, he thanked him in his stories for the NBA night.
