"When we come back from the international break we have a week with three games: City, Chelsea and Arsenal. That will be quite decisive," Klopp said after the Champions League exit against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Liverpool will close the season without winning any silverware unlike last season when they fought for everything until the end. The only thing left to fight for is a place in the UCL and for that it will be essential to get the most points in the 12 remaining games. In England they know that with Diaz the objective is not an impossible mission.

Patience, what Liverpool had to avoid what happened in December when Luis Diaz relapsed from injury and had to undergo surgery. That situation led to the club handling this recovery more carefully and although his absence has been notable, the German manager was always clear that he would wait until the time was right and he will arrive almost 170 days after his last game last October 2022 when he was injured against Arsenal.

"Players who are not on international duty for the current FIFA matchday have been allowed time away from the training ground while they undergo their own individual fitness programmes, as is often the case with Jürgen Klopp's side," the English media reported.

Ideal line-up

With the return of Diaz and Thiago, this is the line-up Jürgen Klopp will field against Manchester City on Saturday 1 April: Alisson in goal, Trent Alexander Arnold, Van Dijk, Konaté and Robertson in defence. Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago in midfield. Up front Salah, Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez.
