England thrashed North Macedonia 7-0 at Old Trafford with a great performance. Liverpool's Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander Arnold also shone as they were involved in two goals with assists, prompting even the Manchester United fans to applaud them and recognise their work despite the rivalry between the two clubs.

Macedonia were no match for England who from the start of the game imposed conditions thanks to the great performance of Bukayo Saka who took the ball home after scoring a hat-trick while other players such as Harry Kane was also able to make his presence felt on the scoreboard with two goals including one from the penalty spot.

With this result England reached 12 points and lead group C of the qualifiers for next year's European Championship in Germany taking a 6 point lead over second place Ukraine. The next match of the qualifiers will be on 9 September when England visit Ukraine in a match that could propel them to a place in the continental showpiece.

The surprise

However, one impact of the match was the appearance on the scoreboard of Manchester City midfielder Calvin Phillips, who according to local reports is being closely watched by Liverpool manager Jurgen Club, who is looking to strengthen his midfield and the Citizens' midfielder is an option he still has in mind for the new Liverpool squad for next season.
