Liverpool U21s held Liverpool U21s to a last-gasp 1-1 draw with Layton Stewart's goal to draw level with Brighton & Hove Albion in Premier League 2 on Sunday. The Reds were trailing in the 86th minute through Julio Enciso's finish before Stewart equalised three minutes later after a Luke Chambers cut-back. The striker was sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence as Barry Lewtas' side picked up their first point of the new campaign in a hard-fought draw.

Lewtas' words

"Obviously, conceding in the 86th minute and then getting the equaliser, you have to be happy for that spirit. I think it was the least we deserved, honestly, as we created a lot of chances throughout the game," Lewtas commented.

"At times they were a threat, but for some of the plays we had I was glad we got a point at the end. There were a lot of promising things that we are only going to get better at as a new united group," he added.

"There's a long way to go, we're still improving and building. We'll see how it all balances out, but overall we're happy."
