Today is a sad day for world football, as one of the greatest legends of recent times retires: Zlatan Ibrahimović. A striker who scored goals against the best goalkeepers, who wore the colours and carried the shields of the best clubs in the world. He was Lionel Messi's teammate and was a benchmark in every team he played for.

The 41-year-old Swede could have become, at the end of his career, the longest player to play in the UEFA Champions League, but he was not registered in time. One of the few who returned to the elite because North American football had outgrown him. And so, like the greats, the best striker ever born in Sweden bids farewell to football.

So, with all this career behind him, Zlatan said goodbye at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in San Siro with his head held high, as one of the greatest in history: "It's time to say goodbye to football, but not to you," he said into the microphone. "It's very difficult, it's a lot of emotions that I feel." "Fuerza Milan and goodbye," he finished, as his teammates and the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation.

The favourite player

In an interview several weeks ago, Zlatan Ibrahimovic highlighted the work of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté: "I asked to exchange shirts with him. He won all the fights with me on the ground & in the air. I told him that he'll be a great defender & that he (should) remember my words well".
