Liverpool winger Luis Diaz will undergo medical checks after suffering physical discomfort after leaving the Premier League club's pre-season training camp in Dubai, manager Jürgen Klopp said. Diaz, who earlier this week said he was "happy to be back," reportedly had a relapse from a knee injury suffered in October and was missing Thursday and Friday's training sessions ahead of Liverpool's friendlies against Lyon and Milan.

"We have to see with Lucho (Diaz). He felt something and we have to evaluate it more," Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com on Friday. The Colombian striker has made 12 appearances so far this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists, after signing for Klopp's side in the boreal summer from FC Porto. Liverpool confirmed on their social media that Luis Diaz was due to leave the club's training camp, which is being held in preparation for the end of the season, in Dubai.

While the world looks to Qatar for the World Cup, very close to there, Diaz was with Liverpool in a series of training and friendly games in the Middle East. Unfortunately, the news this December 9 is that the player relapsed in his injury and must return to England to be examined by the club's doctors.

"Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Luis Diaz will undergo further assessment on a sustained problem in training during Liverpool's Dubai camp," the club said on its Twitter account. The confirmation comes hours after The Times said Diaz had relapsed from the knee injury that ruled him out of the final Premier League games played before the World Cup break.

Luis Diaz has knee problems again

"The Liverpool winger is flying back to the UK from the club's training camp in Dubai after suffering a setback in his recovery from a knee injury," the media outlet noted. On December 6, the Reds had published a photo of the winger training with a caption celebrating his return to action with the club with the Premier League in mind.
