Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table and Darwin Núñez scored again. The Uruguayan ended a 12-game goalless drought as Jürgen Klopp's side beat Burnley 2-0 on Tuesday to overtake Arsenal in first place in the standings.

Liverpool moved two points ahead of the Gunners, who will face West Ham on Thursday. The Uruguayan shot into the back of the goal past Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford in the sixth minute at Turf Moor; he had not scored since November 1.

Chris Wood returned to St. James Park to give Nuno Espirito Santo his first victory as Nottingham Forest manager. With a hat-trick against his former team, Nottingham Forest beat Newcastle 3-1 on Tuesday. Wood was one of Newcastle's first acquisitions after the club was acquired by a Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund in 2021. He signed with the Magpies for £25 million in January 2022 before They sold him to Forest 18 months later.

Racist insult investigated at Luton game

Luton player Carlton Morris was allegedly the target of a racist comment during the match against Sheffield United. Luton manager Rob Edwards said police spoke to Morris after the match at Bramall Lane and Luton won 3-2. “There was an alleged racist comment, the police are dealing with it, they spoke with Carlton and received his version, so he is with them, I have no other comment,” said the coach.
